Arts Line messages, broadcast each hour, help regional arts groups with a no-cost, self-serve opportunity to air public service announcements about their events. As a service of KWAX and the University of Oregon, they also help us fulfill our mission of education and service to arts organizations throughout Western and Central Oregon.
Your message will be rotated throughout available openings in our program schedule during days, evenings, and weekends.
- Record or send your arts line message approximately two weeks before your event or performance.
- Arts Line is for art events and performances only and is not available for fundraisers (auctions, tours, outings, etc.)
Follow these instructions to create and submit your Arts Line announcement
Your statement should follow this format as closely as possible
- “This is (your name) of (your organization), inviting you to…….”
- A description of your concert, play, exhibition, event (for example, a brief listing of the music that will be performed). It should create interest, but because of public radio regulations must avoid value-laden adjectives, calls to action, or any pricing information.
- Date, time, location, and a phone number or website for more information or how to acquire tickets.
- Overall length of either 30 seconds, approx 50 words, or 60 seconds, 100 words. Send us both for maximum options for us to air.
- Your style can be casual or formal—whatever is comfortable for you. Due to our limited staff capacity, we ask that your piece not require more than a minor edit (or better yet, none at all). Simply start over, if necessary.
Submit by computer (preferred)
- Record your message (as a voice memo or audio recording)
- Save and send as a .wav file to rockyl@uoregon.edu.
Submit by phone
- Call our dedicated line where you record your own message of approximately 30 seconds.
- The Arts Line telephone number is (541) 345-9446. Follow the prompts.
We look forward to receiving your Arts Line messages. And, if you would like to consider an underwriting schedule in conjunction with your Arts Line message, call us (541) 345-0800 or email kwax@uoregon.edu.
